Ann Roberts (née Damato), age 87, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, surrounded by her loving family.
Ann was a lifelong resident of Hoboken. She was the owner of Umlands Ice Cream Parlor and Confectionary in Hoboken (now East LA). For many years, Ann volunteered at the St. Mary’s Hospital Gift Shop and she was always a guiding force in the lives of her sons and grandchildren.
Ann was a strong, principled woman and will be missed dearly. She loved cooking for her family, and she also regularly prepared food for the Hoboken Homeless Shelter.
Ann is survived by her sons, former Hoboken Mayor David Roberts and retired Hoboken Fire Captain Charles Roberts, and her grandchildren, Amanda Blaney and her husband Patrick, David Joseph, and Christopher. She is predeceased by her beloved daughter-in-law, Anna Roberts.
There will be a Catholic Mass celebrating Ann’s life at Saints Peter and Paul Church on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 9:30 am. Contributions in her memory can be made to The Hoboken Public Library.
