Patricia “Pat” Mooney of Lavallette, NJ, passed away peacefully at her home on May 20, 2018 surrounded by family and friends. Born in 1931, Pat grew up in the Highbridge section of the Bronx and married Ed Mooney in 1952. Soon after, they moved to Pearl River, NY to raise their five children.
After a brief move to Somers, NY, she moved near the beach to Ocean Beach, NJ in 1992 where she and her husband spent their retirement. After hurricane Sandy, she was eager to rebuild and remain a part of the community.

Pat, as almost everyone came to know her, was the beloved and fabulous matriarch of the family-  managing the many challenges of family life, even without learning to drive. Her greatest joys were spending time or talking by phone with her children, her grandchildren, and her many friends and loved ones. Patiently, she would listen  to their many accomplishments and challenges while offering witty, sage, and often hilarious advice. She inspired many to live life to the fullest

Pat had the kind of charisma and sense of self that would captivate a room and leave an impression on anyone she met. She will be remembered by many for her her humor, her style, her generosity, but above all her endless love for her family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband and is survived by her five children/their spouses: Edward and Lisa Mooney, Kerry Mooney, Gregory and Kathi  Mooney, Patricia and Ed Miller, Jennifer and Peter Giansante, as well as her ten grandchildren:  Ryan, Shane, Julia, Jessie, Greg, Courtney, Maggie, Aidan, Angus, and Ruby.
