In his free time, Edmund enjoyed tennis, woodworking, and working on his writing including his later book Humanity 3500 AD.
Edmund’s memory will be honored by his son, Amery Vasso, his daughter, Alexandra Littlejohn, his grandchildren, PFC Sean A. Perez, Victoria Vasso and Helen Vasso, Ren Marie and his great-granddaughter, Violet LeBlanc, as well as Eddie Perez, Sara Vasso, and Sal Pizzuto, all of whom he loved so, so much. He joins his parents in the cherished memories of his family in addition to his sister, Gloria Hinkel.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to so many who knew him infamously as “The Oper.” Edmund will be remembered for his spirited, and sometimes inappropriate, conversations about religion, politics, and life. “Dad said on his 90th Birthday Celebration ‘Avanti a Cento Anni’ (forward to 100 years). He made it to almost 93, and in the end he quoted good old Frank Sinatra – ‘I did it my way.’ We love and miss you Dad.”
Visitation for Edmund will be held at Lawson-Turso Funeral Home in Hoboken on the corner of Seventh and Washington Streets on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. A Family Remembrance and American Legion Enlightenment Ceremony will be held that evening from 7:30 – 8:30 PM.
