
Kathryn “Kay” DeVincenzo, 85, of Hoboken and Union City, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2019 surrounded by her family.Kathryn was born on March 31, 1934 in Hoboken to Anthony “Tony Mike” and Florence (nee Gustoso) DeVincenzo. Kathryn held special pride in her father’s life inspiring the film ”On the Waterfront.” She loved her career in education including the Joseph F. Brandt School and Hoboken High School and treasured her students as her own children. A member of NJEA and HEARTS, Kathryn loved traveling especially in her later years including trips to Bermuda and Puerto Rico.
She was the caring sister to Anthony DeVincenzo and the late Vito DeVincenzo and Salvatore DeVincenzo. Also left to cherish her memory are many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews that she adored, and many other loving relatives and supportive friends.
Visitation for Kathryn will be on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Lawton-Turso Funeral Home in Hoboken (corner of Washington and Seventh Streets, parking on Seventh). A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Saint Francis Church in Hoboken (corner of 3rd and Jefferson Streets). Burial to follow at Holy Cross in North Arlington, NJ.

Miss D was my favorite teacher at Brandt School (1961-62) and I’ve thought about her many times through the years. My condolences to her family and may she rest in peace.
