Richard Norman O’Brien – March 13, 2021

Richard Norman O’Brien, 73, of Hoboken, NJ, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021.

Born on January 19, 1948, Richard was the son of the late William and Martha (Gloria) O’Brien. Richie was born and raised in Hoboken and was a retired member of the Teamsters Local 560.

He is survived by his three children, Shane (Linda), Richard (Elisa) and Janeen (Scott), as well as his four grandchildren, Riley, Aidan, Nicholas and Sophia.  He is also survived by his sister Sharon and her husband Jerry Czornamor, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard was predeceased by his sister Maureen Johnson and his brother John (Jackie) O’Brien.  


Visitation for Richard will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Lawton-Turso Funeral Home in Hoboken (633 Washington Street, Corner of Seventh & Washington Streets, Parking on Seventh). Following the visitation, a Funeral Mass will be offered at 2:00 PM at St. Ann Catholic Church in Hoboken (Corner of Seventh and Jefferson Streets). Social distancing and masks will be required.

For the safety of in-person attendees and our staff, gatherings at Lawton-Turso Funeral Home will currently follow the latest guidelines as described here:

  • All people attending must wear a mask while inside and around the outside of the funeral home.
  • For safety, the number of attendees indoors will be limited to a reduced capacity according to currently allowed levels and shall be monitored by the management.
  • All attendees must practice social distancing while paying their respects.
