Hipolito Machuca Maldonado – February 2, 2022

Hipolito Machuca Maldonado, 79, of Hoboken, NJ, passed away on February 2nd, 2022.

Hipolito was born on May 2nd, 1942 in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico to Mercedes Maldonado and Hipolito Machuca. He arrived in Hoboken at the young age of 20 and worked in construction. He later pursued his dream and opened his own restaurant, El Tipico Bar, on 2nd Street and Clinton Avenue. 

Hipolito was a beloved member of the community and known for his famous mondongo, bistec con tostones, and pernil. He also was a lover of history, politics, and movies. He is survived by his children Aitza and Anthony, his four grandchildren Brittany, Kristen, Megan, and Devin, and his five great-grandchildren Julian, Liam, Logan, Mateo, and Alannah.


Visitation for Hipolito will be on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 9:30 – 10:30am at St. Ann Catholic Church in Hoboken (704 Jefferson Street). A Funeral Mass will be held in the Church at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Hoboken Cemetery (5500 Tonnele Ave, North Bergen).
