Michael Morrissey, 73, of New York City, passed away on December 24, 2022.
Michael was born on September 26,1949 in New York City where he was raised by his parents Lillian and John Morrissey. Michael was an avid traveler from an early age where he developed an appreciation for all types of music and literature but his passion for jazz music is what made him happiest.
Michael worked for many years in the travel and hospitality field which brought him joy in knowing others would get to enjoy and appreciate the many places in which he also visited. Once retired Michael opened an Antique shop in Hudson, New York which displayed and sold the works of local artists as well as goods from Istanbul Turkey a place he both enjoyed and visited frequently.
Michael is survived by both his loving sisters, Kathleen Sullivan and Donna Sullivan. Michael is survived as well by, in his words, “His Responsible Adult” and devoted companion Rangi Mc Neil. Michael was beloved by his many nieces and nephews.
Michael is predeceased by his parents John and Lillian Morrissey as well as his siblings Eileen Murphy, Lorraine Madigan, John Morrissey, and Dorothy Nicholson. Michael was also predeceased by his loving nieces and nephews Deborah Cotayo, Sharon Madigan, Thomas Murphy, Michael Murphy, and Patrick Morrissey.
Visitation for Michael will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Lawton Turso Funeral Home at 633 Washington Street, Hoboken (Corner of Washington and Seventh Streets, parking on Seventh). A prayer service will take place during the visitation.
