Harold Wayne Verost – April 25th 2023

Harold Wayne Verost, 83, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away Tuesday April 25, 2023.  

Wayne was born in West New York, NJ to the late Lillian and Jacob Verost.  He graduated from Memorial High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Rutgers University. Wayne served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963.

He married Judith Louise Schmidt in 1968 and they raised their three sons, Adam, Daniel, and Michael in Basking Ridge, NJ.  Wayne and Judy retired to Myrtle Beach in 2009.  Wayne loved golf, cooking, making cocktails, taking pictures, playing Pinochle, but most of all, traveling the world with Judy and spending time with his sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren.  

Wayne is survived by his wife Judy, Adam Verost and Victoria Pettibone of New York NY, Brooke and Daniel Verost of Jersey City, NJ, Allison and Michael Verost of Hoboken, NJ, four siblings, Donald, Mary, Robert, and Velma, and his four grandchildren, Lily, Andrew, Ethan, and Annabeth to whom he was their beloved Pop-Pop.  He is predeceased by his siblings Jacob, Gertrude, Jean, Frank, and William and stepbrothers George Cole and John Cole.

A viewing will be held at the Lawton-Turso Funeral Home in Hoboken on Sunday, April 30th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.  The funeral mass will be held at St. Francis Church in Hoboken on Monday, May 1st at 10:00 AM.  After mass, Wayne will be taken to his final resting place at Somerset Hills in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to Saint Jude or the Salvation Army would be appreciated.
