Robert F. Saboski – May 3rd 2023

Robert F. Saboski (aka Bob Skye) of Hoboken, NJ passed away on May 3, 2023.

He was born on October 18, 1948 in Newark, NJ to Francis Saboski and Margaret McClatchey – and grew up in Hillside, NJ.

In addition to being a talented short story and essay writer whose work has appeared in literary journals and on websites under the name Bob Skye, Bob was also an award-winning photojournalist.

He later switched careers and became a woodworker/cabinet maker. For more than two decades, he owned and operated “Skye Woodworks” in Hoboken, NJ – and his woodworks can still be seen throughout Hoboken, including the interior of Moran’s pub and the exterior of the dental practice on Washington St between 2nd and 3rd.

Bob also loved to read; attend plays, concerts and art festivals; was a big fan of both the Yankees and Giants; and was an avid traveler who enjoyed spending time in the wilderness as well as exploring historic cities. He was a great storyteller with a wonderful sense of humor, who led a rich and full life.

He leaves behind his longtime life partner, Trish Hendrix; nephews Johnathan Sinnott and Sean Sinnott (the sons of his sister Maryann Sinnott, who predeceased him); cousins Jule Spohn and Richard Goeckel; as well as a host of extended family members and in-laws who loved him.

A tribute to Bob’s life will be held on June 4 at 5:30 pm at the Hoboken Historical museum at 1301 Hudson Street in Hoboken.
